This photograph shows the propeller & rudder setup of my steam boats.
This is a "Raboesch" type propeller, 3.9 inches in diameter. The rudders on all my models are made from silver soldered brass onto 1/4 inch shaft. The brass rudder is then veneered with Mahogany & edged with Obeche veneer - as shown above. The full length brass keel extends to support the rudder, although in later models the end part of the brass keel is removable to allow easy removal of the rudder & shaft. This boat is powered by a Stuart Turner Double 10V steam engine.
