This Steam Boat has a Stuart Turner Twin Launch engine fitted. Also it had a Stuart Turner steam boiler feedpump fitted to it for a while.
This Stuart Turner vertical steam engine has 2x1 inch bore cylinders & needs a very good supply of steam to run properly. The gas fired boiler had to have a very powerful fierce gas burner to keep up with the steam consumption & subsequent cold water inlet feed when running. I found that the Stuart Turner boiler feed pump was very wasteful in the way it consumed steam relative to the small quantity of water that it pumped on each stroke. It was very reliable though & always started when the regualtor was opened. I removed the Stuart Turner boiler feed pump from the installation shortly after this photograph was taken.
